Dealer's Gambit
My personal peak of all the non-video games I made during my college years. This game is all about controlled gambling, gamblers can use different types of bets with variating risks to decide how much they want to put on the line. However, higher risks mean higher rewards, going all low risk doesn't guarantee you winning, you'd be relying on others' unluckiness to win!
It was extremely fun to design this game, and it was recieved pretty well by my peers. You can very easily play this game without any sort of physical equipment so I'd suggest you give this one a go with some friends!
Inaccurately Simulated Dueling (I.S.D)
On the brink of calamity, a duel begins again.
I'm a fan of more complex games with a lot of mechanics or depth, and this game is easily the biggest exposing of that. Inaccurately Simulated Dueling, or ISD, is a 1v1+1 game where two players take turns dueling while another player controls the arena they duel on, causing hazardous effects that the duelists have to adapt to and take advantage of in order to defeat their opponent.
This game is inspired by a lot of video games I like to play, but the main culprit on that front is a mobile game called Unison League. Little fun fact that I didn't mention much of anywhere even in class, but this was originally gonna be a 3v3 or 5v5 game. The reasons I didn't do that is 1, because of scopecreep. If I stuck by that, I'd have to make a lot more classes to prevent the same two teams being present most of the time. 2, it would be much harder to balance obviously. Finally, 3, it just is too big for the scope of the assignment, I would not be able to get it played properly that way. Still though, with a few tweaks and some extra classes(and some support-focused ones), it can easily be made for those player numbers.
The main focus of this game(and the special part about it) is the Arenas & the Arena Master. Some classes can be very advantageous on certain maps(ex. Archmage's buffs they get in the Academy of Arcane Arts) and map weather effects can be game-changing, especially higher level ones. Since the Arena is randomly picked & picked after both duelists locked in their classes, it's something that the duelists have to adapt to, they'll never know till the last second.
In general, it's an extremely chaotic game, and the only reason it's not my best tabletop over Dealer's Gambit is because that game is way easier to pick up and play, and honestly has a much better game flow imo, but I think this game is still really good!
